Ignitions: What You Need to Know
That Lexus car or SUV you love driving -- it should start and run like the day you first got behind its wheel, wouldn't you agree? Its factory ignition helps make sure it can.
How One Works
It's a straightforward process that begins with a turn of the key in the ignition lock cylinder. This triggers an ignition switch, your vehicle's battery, starter motor, starter solenoid, and ignition coil get to work, and your ride gets going.
What they do is send a small electric charge, or "spark," to each spark plug atop your engine's cylinder head. The plugs' leads capture the electricity and use it to combust the oxygen and gas inside the engine. The mix burns, produces the power that runs the engine (and thus, everything else). Your vehicle stays running thanks to its alternator.
Having trouble starting? It can mean your ignition is going bad or has failed outright. To figure out what's happening, run a complete inspection. There are a few telltale symptoms of trouble that you can look for as well.
Signs of Problems with One
- Flickering dashboard lights
- Being unable to start your vehicle at all
- The key refusing to turn in its cylinder
If you end up needing an ignition replacement, be sure you order genuine parts for the project.
Why Buy Genuine Lexus Ignition Parts?
